WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently received a Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) grant as part of its Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Organizations program. The Clark received $75,000 to help maintain programs and operations. The grant program was funded from the $8.7 billion provided to the Commonwealth from the American Rescue Plan Act. The Clark is one of seventy-two Berkshire-based organizations among the 1,218 cultural organizations that have received a combined $51,063,350 grant funding from the MCC. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Facing the prospect of an infusion of cash at a time of low demand for its popular DeMayo Mortgage Assistance Program, the board of the Affordable Housing Trust last week brainstormed about new initiatives it could pursue in fiscal year 2024. Chair Andrew Hogeland noted at the outset of the April 19 meeting that the trust is in line to receive a little more than $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds and $120,000 in Community Preservation Act funds if the former allocation is approved by next month's annual town meeting. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Through a combined effort of the Select Board and peer land trusts, and with generous support from the community, Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation last week purchased 10 acres of active farmland on Oblong Road with frontage on a scenic byway, preserving both farming and a view of Mount Greylock. The Trustees of Reservations will buy the development rights for the parcel from Rural Lands, placing a farm-forward conservation restriction on it, thereby preserving the land in perpetuity.
