 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The First Congregational Church-Williamstown announced the impending arrival of our new settled pastor following a nationwide search. The Rev. Deanna Shorb will assume her duties effective July 1 -ending our period of interim ministry that was ably served by the Reverend Mark Seifried and Bridge Minister Reverend James Lumsden. Shorb studied theater in college and came to Williamstown in the late 1980s to work in the Williams theater program. She thrived in the theater program but also started to evolve towards a "call" to the ministry through her service work of establishing a soup kitchen in North Adams and a chapter of Habitat for 0 Comments

 LEE, Mass. -- The Baseball in the Berkshires Museum will open its summer 2023 exhibit at the Lee Premium Outlets on Thursday, July 6. Visitors will have a chance to learn about stories rooted in baseball diamonds and corn fields from Sheffield to North Adams. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The founder and president of a Williamsburg-based decarbonization advocacy group Monday told the Select Board that a proposal to process municipal solid waste at the local level will save towns money and address inequity built into the current system of waste disposal.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday OK'd an alcohol license for the new Crust Pizza location at 46 Spring Street, in space recently occupied by the Red Herring. Crust owner Jim Cervone told the board that he hoped to open a second location for the PIttsfield pizza shop in late August or early September. Cervone said the business's practice is to get Training for Intervention Procedures or TIPs training for all employees 18 and older and that policy is to have at least one TIPs-certified team member on the premises at all times.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- After Saturday's rain forced a postponement, the Striking Out in the Berkshires Jimmy Fund fund-raiser will try again on Saturday, July 1 at Clapp Park. Players of any ability are welcome to participate in a charity baseball and softball games. So are players with no ability at all. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The trustees of the town's Affordable Housing Trust on Wednesday approved a grant under its DeMayo Mortgage Assistance Program for the first time in more than a year. On a vote of 5-0, the trustees OK'd a $15,000 award to a longtime resident of Pownal, Vt., looking to become a first-time homeowner in Williamstown. A representative of lender Greylock Federal Credit Union told the trustees that the would-be homeowner would have needed help from family to make the purchase happen, but for the grant from the town. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission on Thursday set conditions for what is now planned for a 16-unit residential development on the site of the former Grange Hall on Water Street. Engineer Charlie LaBatt of Guntlow and Associates appeared before the Con Comm to explain the erosion and stormwater management plan for the project, which has been scaled back considerably from when it first was discussed at Town Hall about a year ago.
