Williamstown Fire Station Project Clears Conservation Commission

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Fire District last week cleared one of two local regulatory hurdles facing the new station project on Main Street.   By a vote of 7-0, the Conservation Commission approved and set conditions for the construction project to replace the aging station on Water Street. This Thursday, fire district officials will be back at Town Hall to seek the OK of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the $22.5 million project that district voters overwhelmingly approved in February.   Charlie LaBatt of Guntlow and Associates represented the district before the Con Comm, which has jurisdiction over the former Lehovec property at 562 Main St. (Route 2) because

Clark Art Talk by Stockbridge-Munsee Author

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2 pm, the Clark Art Institute hosts a talk by Stockbridge-Munsee author Misty Cook exploring the use and history of local plants.    The event takes place in the Clark's auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center.   In this talk, Misty Cook discusses tribal history and plant medicines, creating a rounded picture of what life was like in the Homeland prior to being forcibly removed. She also examines how Mohican peoples interact with the land around them to use these herbal medicines today.   Free. Presented in collaboration with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

BArT Theatre Presents 'Tracks'

ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Arts and Technology (BArT) Charter Public School Theatre announced its production of "Tracks."   The show will run on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 pm, with additional performances on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm.   "Tracks" was written by Peter Tarsi. This production is directed by BArT Senior Jace Ziarnik and stage-managed by BART Senior M Schrade.   According to a press release:   A group of strangers meet in a dirty subway station. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
