 POWNAL, Vt. — The planned auction of the former Green Mountain Race Track property has been postponed to February. A representative from Landmark Auction Co. was on site Wednesday morning to notify anyone who missed the notice on the company's website that the sale had been moved to Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. The 145-acre property on Route 7 just north of Williamstown currently is under a mortgage held by Bayview Loan Servicing of the state of Florida. The property includes the hulking, dilapidated former race track grandstand, which has not been a site of racing since Green Mountain closed in 1992.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —On Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 11:30 am, the Clark Art Institute presents Reflections, a monthly gallery experience during which visitors are invited to look contemplatively as they engage with works of art from the Clark's collection. Participants meet in the Museum Pavilion. With a tone that encourages investigation and audience participation, the group explores one or two artworks with the help of a Clark educator, working together to explore its meaning, find understanding, and raise questions. Distinct from a conventional gallery tour, Reflections provides an opportunity for close looking and introspection.

 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — North Berkshire Community Dance will host its monthly contra dance this Saturday, Jan. 10, at the First Congregational Church.  It was not all fun and games in Williamstown in 2025 ... but a lot of it was. The town made progress on several fronts to add amenities for recreation and physical fitness. The biggest and most expensive project is at Mount Greylock Regional School, a new eight-lane track and natural grass athletic field for the school's soccer and lacrosse programs. The track was long needed for a school where track and field is one of the largest and most successful interscholastic athletic programs — even without an on-campus facility. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The board of the town's Affordable Housing Trust at its December meeting voted to extend its mortgage and rental assistance programs and discussed bringing in some consultants early next year before embarking on any new programs. Chair Daniel Gura informed the board that its agreements with Pittsfield's Hearthway Inc., to administer the Williamstown Emergency Rental Assistance Program and Williamstown Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program was expiring at the end of the year.  Mount Greylock Regional School did not need an on-campus track to be a powerhouse. But it did not hurt. In the same spring that it held its first meets on its new eight-lane track, Mount Greylock won its second straight Division 6 State Championship to become the story of the year in high school athletics in Berkshire County.
