The year started with one high school state championship on the show and ended with another on the hardwood.     In between, there were plenty of team titles, tournament runs and individual accomplishments to keep Berkshire County high school and youth sports fans in the seats and on the sidelines.   Although not every successful season ended in the ultimate prize, there was plenty to be proud of along the way. Mount Greylock Takes Step to Secure Funding for School Roof Replacements

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock School Committee on Thursday took a step to address a major capital need of the district and, potentially, a utility question that has vexed other entities in one of its member towns.   Assistant Superintendent Joe Bergeron detailed for the committee the district's effort to participate in the commonwealth's new Green School Works initiative, under which the state will pay for roof replacements on school buildings if the project includes installation of significant rooftop solar arrays.   "The first time this program will be funded will probably be — though there is no guarantee from the state —

Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
