South Williamstown Community Association-Repair Cafe

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The South Williamstown Community Association (SWCA) in partnership with Williamstown Rural Lands (WRL) invites the public to our Fall Repair Café at Sheep Hill, 671 Cold Spring Road (Route 7) on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.  

Volunteer "fixers" will be onsite to repair a number of items including: small electrical items, wooden furniture, costume jewelry, leather, window screens, and clothing. There will also be computer advice, blade sharpening (knives, scissors, small tools), and simple bike repairs. Bring a few (limit 4-5) of your items for repair.

ARLINGTON, Vt. — There's a quiet and cozy cat waiting for a lap and a forever home at Second Chance Animal Shelter. 

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Keekster is a 12-year-old dilute calico who was given to the shelter over a month ago because she wasn't getting along well in her last home.

"She was in a home for quite a while, but unfortunately, it was too much of a stimulating environment, so she wasn't really getting along with other people in the home. She's been great here, but she's just definitely would benefit from a quieter home. Not a huge fan of

Clark Art Presents Sensing Nature

The event begins outdoors, with a short, mindful walk in the woods designed to engage the senses with the natural environment; a contemplative art-looking experience in the galleries follows.   Free. Williamstown Youth Center Children Create Scarecrows for Town Decor

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Children at the Williams Youth Center last week decorated scarecrows that will be showcased around the town this season.

The activity was in partnership with Wild Oats Market, which provided the materials. 

The market recently held an ice cream social that raised more than $600 for the center, and it was planning a free Wild Smoke Party on Oct. 18, featuring a barbecue with locally raised pork.

"When we finished [the ice fundraiser], we were planning on delivering the money, we had some shirts, and we're planning our Wild Smoke Party," said Amy Carey, marketing and owners relations manager with Wild Oats Market.

Clark Art Screens 'The Five Obstructions'

McKay's Family Farm Takes Over Farm Stand in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A new owner has taken over the former Chenail's Farm Stand at 877 Simmonds Road.

McKay's Family Farm is located in Stamford, Vt., and raises cattle, sheep, horses, goats and more. They also grow a variety of vegetables, and have expanded into the greenhouses at the shopping plaza near the town line. 

"We've been in Stanford for 16 years building our production. And we decided that we kind of do hay and produce all over the place. We have a lot of leased land that we use, and wanted to be able to expand," said owner Luke McKay

Wild Soul River Expands Hours and Offerings

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Wild Soul River recently changed its hours and added more to its menu.

Owners Rebecca Guanzon and Justin Adkins opened the herbal and metaphysical shop in 2021. The shop offers a lot of herbs, herbal teas, and one-on one-sessions for tarot reading and reiki.

"At our core, we're a small herbal business, and that's kind of the core of everything we do," Adkins said. "Rebecca is a trained herbalist, and she sees people one on one for herbal consultations. No Injuries In Williamstown Single Car Accident Near Railroad Tracks

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A driver escaped injury Friday afternoon after their westbound Toyota Prius veered off North Hoosac Road, over an embankment, coming to rest near the railroad tracks.   "One car, no injuries," Officer David Jennings said, noting the accident could have been worse. "That's what we like."   Jennings said the single-vehicle accident, which occurred just before 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct 3, a few hundred feet from Cole Ave., is under investigation by Williamstown Police.   He said the car went across the lanes, hitting and snapping an old railroad communication pole.
