WCMA Celebrates Fall With Weekend of Programs

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) will kick off the fall semester with a weekend of celebrations on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28.

On Friday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. visit WCMA to view fall exhibitions, including Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art, curated by C. Ondine Chavoya and David Evans Frantz; Cracking the Cosmic Code: Numerology in Medieval Art, curated by WCMA Assistant Curator Elizabeth Sandoval; SO-IL/WCMA: Building a New Museum, organized by WCMA and SO-IL, the architects designing the new museum building; Pallavi Sen: Colour Theory, curated by former WCMA Mellon Curatorial Fellow Nicholas Liou

Clark Art Concert By Malik Abdul-Rahmaan and DJ REC

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute presents an addition to its Music on the Moltz Terrace concert series with performances by Malik Abdul-Rahmaan and DJ REC on Sunday, Sept. 29.    The free concert takes place on the Lunder Center at Stone Hill's Moltz Terrace at 5 pm.   Malik Abdul-Rahmaan, a music producer and prolific record collector, has collaborated with artists such as Ghostface Killah, Pink Siifu, and Oddisee. Williamstown Select Board Names Neely to Interim Seat

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A divided Select Board on Tuesday appointed Matt Neely to an interim seat on the five-member panel.   After more than two hours of discussion, the board voted 3-1 to select Neely after two rounds of voting where the four remaining elected officials were deadlocked, 2-2, on how to replace Andrew Hogeland until May's election.   Chair Jane Patton and Vice Chair Jeffrey Johnson argued repeatedly that the board and town would benefit most from having an experienced former member of the board serve the interim role for the next seven months and voted initially to name Hugh Daley, a former three-term Select Board member who was one of three applicants for

Clark Art Presents Symposium on Guillaume Lethiere

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute presents a one-day symposium on Friday, Sept. 27 in celebration of Guillaume Lethière.

The exhibition, organized in partnership with the Musée du Louvre, is the first to investigate Lethière's extraordinary career. This free event takes place from 9:30 am–6:30 pm in the Manton Research Center auditorium.

Clark Art Tour of Impressionist Works

Mount Greylock District Addressing Shortfall in State Report

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School District is working to address a deficiency identified in the commonwealth's recent Special Education and Civil Rights Monitoring Report.   The three-school district last spring went through a periodic review by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that focused on standards ranging from "licensure and professional development" to "parent/student/community engagement" to "equal access."   The district was found to have implemented "universal standards" in 27 of the 29 criteria covered in the review.   One criterion where the Lanesborough-Williamstown

Williamstown Works to Address Water Main Breaks

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Department of Public Works Wednesday afternoon worked to address two water main breaks on the east end of Main Street.   Both breaks were near the Spruces Park on Main Street (Route 2), and Williamstown Police advised in a social media post that water services in the area could be affected.   Residents signed up for the town’s CodeRED emergency notification system also received a phone call alerting them to the issue.   The water main breaks came on a busy day for emergency services in the town. Wednesday morning, Williamstown Fire Department responded to assist with a house fire on Massachusetts Avenue in North Adams.

Williamstown Community Chest Fun Run Returns Sept. 28

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williamstown Community Chest will hold its 16th Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 28.   This community event consists of two races, a 5K run and a 1-mile kids’ run/family walk. The Fun Run races are open to everyone, veteran or first-time runners, and daily or occasional walkers.
