 To the Editor:
It was abundantly clear before, during, and after the Williamstown town meeting on Tuesday night, that there is an erroneous understanding of the distinction between mobile, manufactured, and modular homes resulting in most people confusing manufactured with modular.
The name "mobile homes" was a simple name change to make this type of home seem better and preferable to what they were originally called, "trailers." Trailers, like mobile homes, were living units built on a chassis with wheels making them easily movable over the highway.
As time progressed and construction methods and standards improved, in June of 1976, the name for trailers and mobile

 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Town meeting Tuesday rejected a bylaw amendment that would have removed barriers to manufactured housing, endorsed the use of electronic voting devices at the meeting and chose to take no action on a bylaw change that would have required dogs to be leashed in public areas.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Longtime educator and community leader the late David Rempell will be honored at a community celebration on Sunday, May 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Williamstown Elementary School. As principal of the elementary school, Rempell was a strong and caring guide for teachers. He guided the children with immense respect and care for all. After his retirement as a principal, he became director of the Williamstown Youth Center. He gave his vision of an expanded Youth Center program to meet the needs of all Williamstown families. The National Weather Service has declared a fire weather watch in effect from Tuesday, May 16 until Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Dry conditions and gusty winds may result in rapid fire spread of ignition occurs. I did a little research regarding the proposed Williamstown electronic voting devices and am offering more information than was provided by Selectman Daley. First: The cost of the devices is $26,000 for 1,000. Williamstown, actually has more poverty than Lanesboro, and I’m sure 26 needy families could make good use of $1,000. The devices appear to be of Asian origin and are identified as SunVote M30 Response Keypads. Other towns in New England have begun using these or similar devices. Williamstown appears to be gung-ho to jump on the bandwagon. They are designed to work via Bluetooth radio waves. The keypads use two lithium CR2032 batteries each. They employ two-way

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently added three new paintings to its permanent collection, enhancing its holdings of works by women artists. The paintings, two by Marguerite Gérard and one by Evelyn De Morgan, are the first by either artist to enter the Clark's collection.
