Clark Art Offers Free Gallery Tours for Parents, Infants

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10:15 am, the Clark Art Institute continues a series of gallery tours designed specifically for new parents/caregivers and their infants.    Participants should meet at the Clark’s main admissions desk.   On the first Saturday of the month, September–June, a Clark educator leads an informal, baby-friendly tour of the permanent collection. The program aims to provide a stress-free experience for new parents and caregivers, as well as the chance to socialize with others caring for young infants. Williamstown Fire District Prepping for Transition to New Station

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Prudential Committee last week took the first step in selling off the current fire station property on Water Street.   Meeting in a room that it shared with furniture already delivered for the new Main Street station, the five-person committee voted unanimously to declare the current station "surplus property."   Late this month or early in 2026, the committee likely will call a special fire district meeting to authorize the sale of 34 Water St., the local fire department's home since 1950.   "After we get the district's approval, we need to issue [a request for proposals] in accordance with the provisions of

Swann Finishes Cross Country Campaign on High Note at Williams

Mount Greylock Regional School graduate Kate Swann capped her college cross country career last month by leading Williams College a second-place finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships in South Carolina.   Swann, a captain on the Williams squad this fall, posted a time of 21 minutes, 41 seconds on the 6-kilometer course to earn all-America honors as an individual.   Williams' team finished with 106 points to finish behind DIII Champion New York University with 79 points.   "It was a really, really wonderful day," Swann told Williams' sports information office. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute continues its First Sunday Free series on Sunday, Dec. 7.    In celebration of Hugh Hayden's sculpture, the End, December's First Sunday Free theme is "Beasts and Bones."    Enjoy free museum admission from 10 am–5 pm and take part in free special activities from 1–4 pm.   Hayden's massive artwork evokes the ribcage of a long-gone giant. Williamstown Community Preservation Talks Hard Deadline, Potential Surcharge Hike

Clark Art Participates in Williamstown's Holiday Walk Weekend

The Berkshire County Football Officials Association is pleased to announce a crew of eight of its members will work one of eight state championship games at Gillette Stadium this week.   The local crew will officiate the Division 7 game on Thursday at 5 p.m. between Amesbury and Cohasset.   The crew includes: Rick Ciampa, referee; Josh Healy, umpire; Michael Rooney, line judge; Reggie Leonard, head linesman; David Jordan, back judge; Matt Emerson, side judge; Chuck Poulton, field judge; and Aaron Kipp, game clock operator.

Hundreds Raise Tens of Thousands of Dollars for Food Pantries at Thankful 5K

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Lauren Osborne did not finish in the top 10 of Thursday morning's 10th annual MountainOne Thankful 5K.   Not even the top 100.   But with their full-fledged turkey costumes, it was a shoo-in that she and her husband Carl would be in the running for best dressed.   At 9 a.m., the Osborne family toed the line for the 3.1-mile circuit around the Berkshire Community College campus, out West Street and back to the parking lot.   Unlike most of the 561 runners who finished the course, the Osbornes wore festive attire that included "feathers" that stretched from their wrists to their waists.   The family has competed in the annual
