Holiday Hours: Independence Day

Independence Day will be celebrated Thursday, July 4. It is a federal holiday marking the ratification of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Clark Art Concert by Jacques Schwarz-Bart

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—On Wednesday, July 3, the Clark Art Institute kicks off its July Outdoor Concert Series with a performance by Jacques Schwarz-Bart and Band.    This year, the July Outdoor Concert Series celebrates the French Caribbean with some of best musicians from Guadeloupe and Haiti. Williamstown Youth Center's History Explored

Williamstown Fire District Won't Seek Retirement Exemption for Chief

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Prudential Committee on Wednesday voted 3-1 to not seek an exemption that would allow the fire chief to continue in his role past his 65th birthday.   Fire Chief Craig Pedercini had asked the panel, which governs the district, to seek the exemption to prevent him from having to retire in March of next year.   The five-member committee referred the question to a newly created Personnel Committee, which on Wednesday recommended that the district not seek the exemption to the state-mandated retirement

County Residents Encouraged to Test Home Internet Capability

Williamstown Select Board Commits ARPA Funds to Mount Greylock School District Project

Garceau Earns All-America Honors at UMass Boston

Wahconah Regional High School graduate and UMass Boston sophomore Aryianna Garceau earned all-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles at May's NCAA Division III Championships.   Garceau took sixth in the finals with a time of 14.05 seconds after qualifying for the finals with a time of 13.97, which broke a 35-year school record.   In earning all-America honors, Garceau became the 20th Beacon to achieve that honor and the first since 2018.   Earlier in May, Garceau was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association's all-Region team. Clark Art Presents Weekly Community Yoga

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute offers community yoga on Tuesdays in July and August.   The dates: are July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 and August 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 10 am.    The weekly program takes place on the Reflecting Pool Lawn.   Led by certified instructor Natasha Judson of Tasha Yoga in Williamstown, community yoga is well-suited for both experienced practitioners and newcomers. Please join Greylock Together and Indivisible chapters all across the country (13 in Massachusetts alone) on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Field Park in Williamstown on the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Bring signs, hear speakers, leave with actions to take.
