WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board is hoping to put "unity" back in the community. At its Monday meeting, the board discussed the goals for 2022-23 that it compiled at an off-camera meeting last month at the Williams Inn. The board identified five initiatives for the year that concludes with May's town election. The only one with all five board members' names attached is labeled "Community Building/Outreach." "This was a broad topic brought up at the retreat," Chair Hugh Daley said. Williamstown Community Chest Fun Run Set for SaturdayCommunity submission,

 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williamstown Community Chest will hold its 14th Fun Run on Saturday. This community event consists of two races, a 5K run and a 1-mile kids’ run/family walk. The Fun Run races are open to everyone, veteran or first-time runners and daily or occasional walkers. Families with pets and strollers are also welcome to participate. Both race events begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Williamstown Youth Center, 66 School St. Sign-in and registration begin at 8 a.m. on the day of the race. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Longtime Williams College assistant football coach and now manager of football operations Joe Doyle has been named to the USA Lacrosse Massachusetts Hall of Fame. Doyle played lacrosse at UMass in 1963 and 1964 and was an original and longtime Western Mass lacrosse official. Field Hockey BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Emily Batchelor scored a pair of goals Saturday to Williams team to a 3-2 in over Babson. Property tax is a regressive tax but it doesn't have to be.
While in most communities each property owner pays the same tax rate per $1,000 of home value, the impact on your pocketbook varies based on your income level. Those in the bottom income quintile pay 5.4 percent of their income on municipal tax while the top quintile pays less than 3 percent, and the top 1 percent of earners pay only 1.6 percent of their household income, according to the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP).
In essence, the less you have, the more of your income you are expected to pay.

The collision at the entrance of the high school has again raised safety concerns about speed and low visibility, especially regarding younger drivers. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A crash at the entrance of the Mount Greylock Regional School campus Wednesday sent one person to the hospital and had the school community thinking about the potential danger of the driveway's access to U.S. Route 7. At about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Williamstown Police received a call about a two-car accident at 1781 Cold Spring Road, the entrance to the middle-high school. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
