Clark Names Recipient of Prize for Excellence in Arts Writing

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute has selected Bénédicte Savoy as the recipient of the 2024 Clark Prize for Excellence in Arts Writing.    Savoy is a professor of art history at Technische Universität in Berlin and is a noted expert on the provenance and repatriation of works of art, including looted art and other forms of illegally acquired cultural objects.   "The Clark Prize raises awareness of the importance of writing that bridges scholarly and popular interest and seeks to encourage support for clear and engaging writing that inspires readers to connect with the arts," said Olivier Meslay, the Hardymon Director of the Clark

Williamstown Con Comm Keeping Spruces Article on Town Meeting Warrant

One Week Left to File for Williamstown Town Elections

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — With one week left for candidates to file, the town has, at most, one potential candidate for each of the positions on the May town election ballot.   Town Clerk Nicole Beverly Tuesday reported that only incumbent Jeffrey Johnson has pulled nomination papers for the single Select Board seat that is up for election this spring.   As of Tuesday, he had not returned the papers with signatures for certification.   On the other hand, incumbent Anna Halpin-Healy has returned papers to retain a seat on the board of trustees for the Milne Public Library, and those signatures have been certified.   Likewise, newcomer Samantha Page has secured a spot on

Authorities Search in Williamstown for Missing Eastern Mass Resident

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Police are asking anyone with information about a missing eastern Massachusetts resident to contact the dispatch center at 413-458-5733.   On Tuesday morning, Williamstown Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near the end of Berlin Road, a hiking area near the New York State Line, according to a news release from the WPD on Wednesday.   Police determined the vehicle was registered to Fae Morgana Barbone, a missing person from the Abington/Hanson area on the South Shore, the release said.    "This person had been reported as missing several days earlier with unconfirmed sightings in North Adams and the Carolinas and a

Williams Seeking Town Approval for New Indoor Practice Facility

Clark Art Presents Free Thematic Tour on Music in Art

Mount Greylock School Committee Votes Slight Increase to Proposed Assessments

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee on Thursday voted unanimously to slightly increase the assessment to the district's member towns from the figures in the draft budget presented by the administration.   The School Committee opted to lower the use of Mount Greylock's reserve account by $70,000 and, instead, increase by that amount the share of the fiscal year 2025 operating budget shared proportionally by Lanesborough and Williamstown taxpayers.   The budget prepared by the administration and presented to the School Committee at its annual public hearing on Thursday included $665,000 from the district's Excess and Deficiency

Williamstown Library Officials Aim for Construction Project Within 10 Years
