 To the Editor:
I add my voice to those asserting that the Select Board should NOT support the cease fire resolution. Several writers before me have enumerated many well-reasoned arguments against involvement of our local governance in such a controversial issue. I come at the question from a somewhat different angle. I have asked the Select Board on numerous occasions to cite the source(s) from which they have authority to comment as a board on articles not strictly related to Williamstown issues. Does the authority come from the Williamstown charter? The Massachusetts General Laws? Case law? Where? If the SB or anyone has responded to my inquiry, I have missed it. Should not the

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Three North County communities are set to lose their human resources officer before the month is out. At Monday's meeting of the Williamstown Select Board, Town Manager Robert Menicocci reported that the HR person the town shares with Adams and North Adams has given her notice.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Nine years after its adoption, the town flag continues to come under scrutiny. And one of the people involved in its creation agrees that if someone wants to change the flag, they should. The flag adopted by the Select Board in January 2015 includes imagery of three Berkshire hills in the background, trees, the year of the town's charter (1765), the town's name, a furrowed field, the words "Culture, Education, Nature," and, at its center, a depiction of the 1753 House, a replica of a colonial-era structure that was built on Field Park for the town's bicentennial.
