Williams has not discussed a timeline for the demolition of Towne Field House, which the college's strategic plan has identified to be replaced.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday voted unanimously not to adopt a residential tax exemption for the current fiscal year but left the idea on the table as one of several options the town could consider employing to provide tax relief in the future. Two of the board members, Andrew Hogeland and Jane Patton, argued that the RTE is too blunt an instrument and advocated for more targeted tax relief mechanisms.  BENNINGTON, Vt. — Dr. James Kalmuk, medical oncologist, has joined the Dartmouth Cancer Center at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC). Kalmuk holds a masters in interdisciplinary science from Roswell Park Cancer Institute and attended medical school at SUNY Update Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and oncology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Police are investigating an incident of vandalism that left a swastika on the side of a Main Street structure. On Tuesday at 6 p.m., police received a call reporting a swastika on the Berkshire Regional Transportation Authority bus shelter on Main Street (Route 2) across from Hopkins Hall on the Williams College campus. Officer John McConnell responded to the scene and reported that the symbol was etched into the plastic on the inside of the shelter's front panel. McConnell told a BRTA bus driver, who reported the incident to their supervisor, according to the police report. The BRTA said it was notified by Williamstown Police on 0 Comments

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — In order to complete the road repairs on Route 7 in the Bulkley St and Jamieson Heights area, that section of road will be closed for a portion of Friday Sept. 8. Closures are estimated to start at 7 am and are expected to last until 3:30 pm. Closures for through traffic will be placed at Sand Springs Road at Simonds Rd, and North Street at Field Park, with local traffic able to access in the following ways: Jamieson Heights can be reached by way of Simonds Road, while North Street will allow access up to Bulkley Street.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A burst water main on North Street near Jamieson Heights on Wednesday left an undetermined number of residences without water and forced a closure of Route 7 to through traffic. At about 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon, the Police Department posted on its Facebook page that Route 7 (North Street and Simonds Road) was closed to through traffic from the Field Park rotary north to Sand Springs Road. BOSTON — Behavioral Health Network, Inc., which services communities in Berkshire County, received a $772,706 grant to support mental health among young children. The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that they are awarding $4.1 million in Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Grants to organizations that support the social-emotional development and behavioral health of children in early education and care programs across Massachusetts.
