Mount Greylock Students Stage Wilde Classic for a Cause

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Che Guerra's biggest problem with school-based theater programs is that they end when the school year ends.   "The real reason we're doing this is we are obsessed and we were going through theater withdrawal," Guerra said recently.   "This" is a student-led production of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" that Guerra is co-directing with fellow Mount Greylock Regional School senior Quin Repetto.   The show will have just one curtain, on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.   Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children, and proceeds benefit The Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis

Clark Art Presents Artist Talk About Sculptural Garden

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Sunday, Sept. 17 at 3 pm, the Clark Art Institute presents an artist talk with Pallavi Sen.    Sen leads an informal conversation about the sculptural artist's garden that she and a group of Williams College students are cultivating as part of the Clark's Humane Ecology: Eight Positions exhibition. McCann Tech Students Plan Charity Run for Maui Fire Relief

CHESHIRE, Mass. — The McCann Tech cross country team on Sept. 16 will host a 5-kilometer trail run and 1 mile walk to benefit victims of August's fire in Hawaii.   The Walk/Run for Maui fund-raiser will take place at Whitney's Farm on Ingalls Road (follow the dirt road past the U-Pick blueberries).   Check in on Saturday, Sept. 16, will be at 7:30 a.m. The 5K trail run begins at 8:30, and the stroller-friendly 1 mile walk begins at 9:30.   The cost to register is $20 in advance or $25 the day of registration. Warmer Temperatures This Labor Day Weekend

It will actually feel like summer this weekend with temperatures in the 80s.   Today Thursday, Aug. 31 there will be sunshine with temperatures in the low 70s.   The same can be expected Friday but with warmer temperatures in the high 70s, reports AccuWeather.   Saturday, Sept. 2 will be partly sunny with temperatures in the low 80s.   Sunday will be mostly sunny and more humid with temperatures again in the low 80s.   Monday will be in the mid-80s with mostly sunny skies, and Tuesday is set to be even warmer with temperatures possibly breaking into the 90s.

Registration Open for Monument Cup 3-on-3 Soccer Tourney

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The 24th annual Monument Cup 3-on-3 soccer tournament returns on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Monument Mountain Regional High School.   The event features boys and girls divisions in the under-10, under-12 and under-14 age groups.   Teams of three to four players are guaranteed at least three matches. The top four teams in each division advance to the semifinals, with the championship matches played on the varsity field.   Teams are encouraged to wear their own handmade, creative uniforms.   Each division is limited to 16 teams. Thursday, International Overdose Awareness Day, is the world's largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died from overdose and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.

In Berkshire County, programs are planned in North Adams and Pittsfield.

In North Adams, the community will gather at City Hall at 5 p.m. Flags will mark each death, and people are welcome to bring (or make on site) signs to raise awareness and speak to their own loss. At 6 p.m., we will gather for a vigil to remember those lost. Bereavement resources will be available from Support After a Death by Overdose (SADOD). Narcan will be available. We will also have

Williamstown Artist's Major Arcana Paintings and Tarot Deck at Wild Soul River

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Original artwork from Jane Hudson's Major Arcana series will be displayed at Wild Soul River, located at 248 Cole Avenue, from Sept. 1 to Dec. 24.   Timed with the autumnal equinox, Wild Soul River will host an experiential opening on Sept. 22, 2023, 4-7 p.m.    These paintings, inspired by the Major Arcana cards in the traditional Rider-Waite tarot deck, are also the inspiration for a Major Arcana-specific 22-card tarot deck released by Hudson this summer with Wild Soul River.   According to a press release, Hudson has been a practitioner of the Tarot since her 20's.
