Clark Art Talk on British Photo Tourism

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Wednesday, Aug. 16, the Clark Art Institute presents a talk focusing on works by nineteenth-century British photographers.    Williams College/Clark  Graduate Curatorial Intern Eva Dailey discusses how photography functioned both as a novel artistic enterprise and as archival documentation contributing to the emergence of photo-tourism. Thunder Finishes Season Unbeaten in Berkshire Adult Baseball League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – John Goodnow hit a key two-run single late, and the Berkshire Thunder Sunday overcame a three-run deficit en route to a win over Tunnel City Freight as the Thunder finished the Berkshire Adult Baseball League 33-and-over division with a 14-0 record.   Jesus Lay went 4-for-5 with an RBI and scored three times for the Thunder, which pulled away late to take 15-4 win at the Alcombright Athletic Complex.   Nine of those Berkshire runs came in the top of the seventh inning.   The Thunder took the lead one inning earlier with a two-run rally.   Lay, who ended the fifth at shortstop by starting a 6-3 double play, led off the top of the sixth with a

Clark Art Screens 'Our Hospitality'

Although the mild temperatures are set to continue this weekend, temperatures should briefly break back into the 80s.    Today, Thursday, Aug. 3, expect temperatures in the high 70s with mostly sunny skies, according to AccuWeather. There is the potential for thunderstorms this afternoon.   On Friday, expect morning thundershowers. There is the possibility of damaging winds, flash flooding, and hail. There should be a high of 75.   Saturday, Aug. 5, should be sunny with a high of 80, reports to AccuWeather.   Sunday should also be nice with partial sun and temperatures in the high 70s.

No One Injured in Monday Fire at Williams Dorm

A truck from a fire restoration service is seen in front of Hubbell House at Williams College on Tuesday afternoon.    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Quick thinking by a Williams College student is being credited with helping to limit damage from a fire in a residence hall on Monday night.   Firefighters from Williamstown and Pownal, Vt., responded to a fire that was reported at around 9 p.m. in Hubbell House.   No injuries resulted from the blaze, which fire officials say could be traced to a bathroom light and ceiling fan.   "Hats off to the student in the room," Williamstown Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Noyes said on Tuesday.

TROY, N.Y. – Lucas Hamilton struck out four and scattered seven hits in a 12-0, six-inning win for the Berkshire Bananas 14-and-under travel baseball team in AA2 division final of the Eastern New York Travel Baseball Last Man Standing tournament at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.   Hamilton also went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to help his cause in the title game against the Cohoes Blackhawks 13U Red.   Brennan Vallieres led the Bananas’ offense, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a pair of runs batted in.   Everett Bayliss also doubled in a 10-hit attack. Roosa Leads Field of 100s at High Lawn Farm

LEE, Mass. -- Lee's Maguire Roosa and Glendale's Morgan Windram-Geddes were the top finishers Sunday at the High Lawn Farm Keep Moo’ving 5K.   The event was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the family-owned dairy farm and as a benefit for Berkshire Bounty, a food rescue organization that serves emergency food distribution programs county-wide.   Roosa hit the finish line in 19 minutes, 30.45 seconds, a 6:16 mile pace, to edge runner-up Pat McNaughton (19:31.87) by just more than a second.   Windram-Geddes was the top female finisher and sixth-place finisher overall, covering the out-and-back course around the farm property in 20:21.31.   The
