 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Sunday, Oct. 6 at 4 pm, the Clark Art Institute hosts poets Iain Haley Pollock and Nathan McClain in the Manton Research Center auditorium for a free poetry reading. Pollock reads poems from his most recent book, "Ghost, Like a Place," and from a forthcoming collection. McClain, whose poetry has been described as "no-nonsense, meat and potatoes, good gotdam poetry," also reads from his work. The two poets then discuss their stylistic differences and conceptual overlap when it comes to poetry, language, race, and W.E.B. Du Bois's concept of double consciousness. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission on Thursday reviewed a refined version of the site plan for a planned four-home subdivision off Summer Street. Earlier this year, Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity sought and received an order of conditions from the Con Comm to build four single-family homes on the parcel currently owned by the town's Affordable Housing Trust. That order was appealed by abutters to the parcel to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, which last month received a revised set of plans from Northern Berkshire Habitat.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Big changes have come to the Milne Public Library as the Main Street institution celebrates its 150th year. Milne Trustees vice chair Jared Della Rocca appeared before the Select Board on Tuesday to detail some of the new initiatives that expand both the library's mission and its access to the community. One of the most noticeable changes is that the library's doors are, effectively, open six more hours per week. In past years, the library has been open until 8 p.m. only one day per week, Wednesdays.  WILLIAMSTOWN — The North Berkshire Contra Dance returns to Williamstown on Saturday, Sept. 28, with a community contra dance taught by caller Jeff Walker and New England-style fiddle music. This community event consists of two races, a 5K run and a 1-mile kids' run/family walk. The Fun Run races are open to everyone, veteran or first-time runners, and daily or occasional walkers.
