Clark Art Exhibition of 18th Century French Drawings

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — In partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), the Clark Art Institute opens the first exhibition ever presented of the National Library of France's eighteenth-century French drawings.   The exhibition, "Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century French Drawings from the Bibliothèque nationale de France," includes a selection of eighty-four studies, architectural plans, albums, sketchbooks, prints, and optical devices that expand understanding of drawing as a tool of documentation and creation in the age of Enlightenment.    These works of art span the domains of natural history, current events, theater

Pittsfield, Williamstown Developments to Receive Housing Tax Credits

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The White Terrace rehabilitation project in Pittsfield and the RiverLofts at Cable Mills in Williamstown will both recive federal and state low-income housing tax credits and subsidy funds.   The Baker-Polito Administration announced $93.4 million in direct funding and $33 million in state and federal housing tax credits to support the development of 790 housing units across 14 projects.   "Our Administration has made it a priority to create adequate housing to support our economy and families since day one," said Governor Charlie Baker. Berkshire County Fire Departments Awarded Grants

STOW—The Baker-Polito Administration announced $5 million in grant awards to 308 fire departments from the FY23 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.   In Berkshire County Adams, Dalton, Great Barrington, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, New Ashford, New Marlborough, North Adams, Peru, Pittsfield, Richmond, Sheffield, Stockbridge, and Williamstown all received grants.   "We ask so much of our firefighters, and no matter how dangerous or difficult the situation, they always do whatever it takes to help," said Governor Charlie Baker. Clark Screens Short Films Focused on Early Animation

Williams Men's Basketball Improves to 9-0

Amherst Men's Hockey Beats Williams on Late Goal

Williamstown's DIRE Committee Discusses How to Deal with 'Article 37 Reports'

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town's diversity and racial equity committee Monday talked about how it should process reports it receives from other boards and committees in town government.   In 2020, town meeting passed a warrant article that, in part, stated that "town employees and public office holders" should submit quarterly reports to the then unnamed "race and equity advisory committee."   According to Article 37, which passed overwhelmingly at the meeting, those reports, "should include types and vendors of equity training and policies and procedures created to advance access for traditionally under-represented groups."   Article

Clark Art Hosts Williams College Chamber Music Gala

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. On Sunday, Dec.11 at 1 pm, the Clark Art Institute hosts a concert by the Williams College Music Department in the Clarks Michael Conforti Pavilion.

The Chamber Music Gala presents an afternoon of chamber music by students in the Music Department at Williams.

Prior to their performances, student musicians will introduce their repertoires. The program of string and woodwind chamber music showcases students performing selections from their fall semester chamber music collaborations.
